Overview

The Comune di Nocera Superiore, a town near Salerno with significant archaeological heritage, selected Wonderlab to build a digital platform to promote its artistic, historical and cultural assets. Visit Nuceria is a smartphone app for iOS and Android with a content management system behind it, acting as an interactive guide to the town. Augmented reality turns visitors from spectators into participants and makes the places easier to understand for people without specialist knowledge.

What I built

Augmented-reality audio guide

At each point of interest, visitors start an AR audio guide that narrates the place, connecting them emotionally to its story.

Curated points of interest

The most significant sites were identified through a survey of the town before the app was built.

Content management system

A CMS lets the town manage and update content over time, so the guide never goes out of date.

Designed for every age

Simple and intuitive so visitors of all ages can use it, presenting the town as smart and modern.

Published on both stores

Available on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Public-sector client

Delivered for the Comune di Nocera Superiore after a public call for territorial marketing specialists.

Engineering decisions

  • Use augmented reality to make heritage sites engaging and understandable for non-specialists.
  • Back the app with a CMS so the town can keep content fresh without new releases.
